That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you."
Solomon answered God, "You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. Now, LORD God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?" 2 Chronicles 1:7-10
How do you know you're wise? Is it when SWOOSH God grants you wisdom like Tinkerbell made the kids fly in Peter Pan. I put this to you, because I always feel honored when people asked me how I got so wise? I'll be honest, I prayed for at least six months about this. In a sermon I heard, the brother pointed out this scripture as the greatest prayer anyone could ever pray, along with being an elder is the greatest post to have in God's Kingdom. Which makes sense to me, elders are look too for their wisdom, so I prayed for it.
When I prayed for wisdom, I liked a sister who grew up in the church. Her parents had been around since the restoration days in the church. I felt, if I had any chance in catching her eye, I needed to gain some wisdom. So I prayed for wisdom, and when I was wise I would date that sister. I didn't date that sister, but apparently I gained some wisdom, I think?
Anyway, I liken teaching as a repeating of what has been taught. I would say, the wisdom God has granted me is really the ability to remember what I learned and how to apply it. We are all wise within our strength/talents. Really I need more to be able to be called wise, trust me!
