You would think this gets old, but I'm always looking at food, pans and flames, which all colide in times like this. Here you'll find me toasting some fennel and anise seeds for our tomato and fennel soup. This isn't something that is called for in the recipe, but when you realize you forgot to add it in after you've poured in the crushed tomatoes, toasting is necesary to release the flavors. Anyway, all was good, toasting went well and the soup tasted right.
