Mark 1
Rob spoke about the fact in order for us to gain effectiveness as Disciples, we need to see the example in Jesus. Matthew lends itself for the Jews in the demonstration of the Old Testament fulfilment in Jesus. Luke lends itself more to building the faith of the Disciples and demonstrating to the educated Gentiles that Jesus is real. John is apocalyptic in nature, so it brings in the element so the unseen and the notion of heaven on Earth. As with Mark it is the bulleted points of Jesus' ministry.
Anyway, I love reading Mark, because it is so simple. I read it as I was studying the Bible and spent a good amount of time just learning who Jesus is. I feel that in the last six plus years, it is hard to believe there was a time I didn't know about him. It is awesome to see that I too can do the things as Jesus did. He called people out to his ministry, he called out demons to save others, he healed sick and of course in the beginning he knew to be obedient to God.
All these examples of Jesus sums up one thing, I have a lot of work to do if I really want to call myself a Disciple of the Lord and Savior.
