The Cruise

Amy and I are headed to Miami, at oh-dark thirty Friday morning to head out on our long awaited honeymoon. We planed on something grand and special for a honeymoon, for this fall. At the time, I was still with Old Chicago, and I had three weeks of vacation time coming to me. We planed to take up some time for a vacation this fall/early winter, then again in the summer to go see the Tour de France. We're still dreaming of the TDF, but with buying a relatively new car, it's looking like a '08 trip. That's okay, they aren't going up L'Alpe d'Huez in '07, so maybe '08 might be better. We've always imagined being on the mountain, in the sea of fans cheering on the jersey leaders, the peleton and the support cars.
Moving on, our cruise will be from leaving Miami and sailing to the Panama Canal. I'm not too sure about all the places we're stopping at, but we do open with two days at sea. I'm looking forward to the break and the time off from training. It's been really hectic and stressful, learning everything I need to before I leave. We'll be gone for ten days in the Gulf of Mexico, away from the wintery weather we have been having here in Colorado.
I started packing yesterday for the trip, as well as, trying to get my wife to start packing. I think I have everything I want, but I'm not too sure it's all that I need for the trip. I mean, what do you pack for a cruise? However many days, plus two, of boxers and shirts. Some socks, I mean we'll be in a tropical climate for crying out loud. They tell me there are two formal dinners that I need a suit for, so I have one of those with shirts and ties to mix it up. I own non-slip work shoes, I double as dress shoes. Do you bring more than that if you're a guy? (sneakers, shoes, flip-flops, boots?) I have one pair of khakis, I love to wear, and another pair for the casual nights, they're work pants. I picked out four or five button down shirts, and just as many tee shirts for the trip. I don't know what to pack, I'm overwhelmed with the task itself. That's why it's ten o'clock at night and I still need to sort my clothes again to need and wants.
